"Curiosity supports the personalization of therapy, a critical factor in client success."
Affirming, minority-stress-informed therapy for LGBTQ+, kink, and polyamorous adults — in person in St. Petersburg or by confidential telehealth statewide.
What is 'affirming therapy'?
Maybe you've been here before — scanning a therapist's bio for the right words, bracing for the pause after you mention your partner's name(s), or deciding how much you'll need to explain before the actual session starts.
You don't have to do that work.
Its not just us. Did you know the American Psychological Association[1], the DSM-5 and the World Health Organization's ICD-11 clearly distinguish LGBTQ+ & kink from any kind of treatable 'disorders'[6]
Non-monogamy is more common than many practices acknowledge. One national survey found roughly one in five people practicing consensual non-monogamy said their therapist lacked basic knowledge[4] of it.
At Bloom Integrated Health, our practitioners accept your current identity as part of who you are, what you're going through and what you need to thrive. Its not the thing to be corrected. We can help with "minority stress", the cumulative, daily weight of stigma and managing how you're seen,[2] but we're here for the whole you.
Bionic Bloom it’s so much more than therapy, it’s a community of loving and supportive professionals that truly care about your wellbeing. They had helped me and my family navigate difficult challenges, they meet you where you are with wisdom and compassion, without judgement.
The guidelines are common.
Our practice is not.
Well-meaning but uninformed care has a track record with people living outside the traditional shapes.
Among consensually non-monogamous clients, nearly one in ten were pushed to end a relationship the therapy was meant to support.[3]
A third of transgender adults have had to teach their own provider about being transgender just to get appropriate care.[4]
Kink clients report the same type of thing — quickly pathologized, or handed the unpaid job of educating their chose professional.
That gets expensive when you’re paying by the hour.
Fortunately, we save you the 'splaining and take insurance!
